| Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time |
| PlayStation |
From: Infogrames |
Jersey Devil, anyone? Bugs Bunny essentially takes the engine and the looks of ageing platformer Jersey Devil and adds Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck and Yosemite Sam. Visually, this is pretty much on the mark. The characters look their televisual cartoon counterparts but, unfortunately, the game's level design isn't clever enough to engage you for long periods. Collision detection is at best ropey, the camera swirls about in a giddy fashion and the controls aren't responsive enough for the level of dexterity required. The vast array of puzzles can't save Bugs, simply because you won't enjoy solving them. Average, at best.

This really should be great. It's got all the ingredients: there are loads of championship circuits, a wealth of riders and a split-screen, two-player facility, together with a host of perspectives from which to view the bike action. The Dual Shock Analogue enables you to nudge the two-wheeled beast neatly around bends and... and... well, it's somehow rather dull. Visually, the game is miles behind, say, Gran Turismo, and the circuits all look the same. The hike in the game's difficulty level is too steep and the AI of your opponents ensures they zip around the circuits like Barry Sheen (replace with whoever the latest bike hero is). The PlayStation awaits its definitive motorbike game. A solid enough, if rather bland, motorbike simulation.
