International Superstar Soccer 99
Game Boy Color From: Konami

Apart from Actua 3, the ISS games are probably the best footy titles you can get for the PlayStation and, in particular, the N64. This miniaturised, 8bit version bears little resemblance to its 3D big brothers, but it certainly doesn't sully the franchise's good name. Most of the important tactical options are still in there so you can mess about with your team in true Glenn Hoddle style, and the action is simple and playable. Once you've sussed out how to score cheap goals you'll find yourself thrashing the weaker teams, but the likes of Brazil provide a challenge that should outlast at least one pair of Duracells.

Spy vs Spy
Game Boy Color From: Kemco

In keeping with the current trend for converting long lost classics to the Game Boy, Kemco's Spy vs Spy dates back to the days of the Commodore 64. That said, it always felt slightly ahead of its time, and this colourful handheld version looks much sharper and plays faster than the original. The aim of the game is to collect five items from around a booby-trapped maze and escape before your opponent does. Simple in theory but fiendishly difficult in practice, thanks to the computer's utterly evil AI. Played against a friend though (via a link cable), it's good, confusing, violent fun.
