| Shenmue-vies and Broken Bones |
Our attention has been clearly divided this week - half the time was spent watching Shenmue footage, the other half picking our jaws off the floor. It really is staggering stuff that would probably stand up as a movie in its own right. What are we going to be like after we've actually played the thing?
We have actually played a couple of games too, especially Thrasher: Skate & Destroy and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. Like, radical, dudes! Seriously, Tony Hawk's is great fun and easy to get into, particularly for fans of the Cool Boarders series. Thrasher, on the other hand, has more of a simulation feel to it and, to be quite honest, we were rubbish at it. Instead of trying to improve our skills, we spent most of the time wrapping our hapless skater around lampposts and the like just to see how he crumpled. Like, truly horrific. The best 'trick' we managed was flying 10 feet in the air off the 'vert' ramp, before a graceful face-first landing on the tarmac, legs akimbo. Ouch!
