When it arrived on the N64, many were expecting Mission: Impossible to be as good as GoldenEye 007. It wasn't, though...

They're all the rage these spy things, aren't they?
The 'sneak 'em up' has become one of the most popular sub-genres in the past couple of years. Konami's blockbuster Metal Gear Solid was both a critical and commercial success, and more recently, Sony's Syphon Filter has proved a worthy addition to the field.
And Mission: Impossible is the same sort of thing?
Yup, the same kind of idea. Actually, some of you may be familiar with the N64 version which came out last summer. It featured elements of both the N64's finest hour, GoldenEye 007, and the aforementioned Metal Gear Solid.
What was the N64 version like?
Hmm. Just 'okay'. It wasn't the greatest of critical successes but it sold well enough. The expectation surrounding Mission: Impossible was huge at the time, but it just couldn't live up to the hype.
Why?
Many of missions were rather frustrating, and there wasn't any common thread between them. In some games, this is a good thing - variety and all that - but this game just didn't work as a whole.
So what's the port like, then?
Aha. It's not really a port. The coders XAP have transported the original code onto their PCs and rewritten a lot of it. The PlayStation incarnation is actually far more handsome than its N64 counterpart. Also, a raft of quite splendid FMV sequences have been added to give the game a more cinematic feel.
