Force 21 - Out now in the shops

DC: Your Shout page 2 of 2

Sonic will keep platform players happy until closing time, and then there's a little thing called Soul Calibur. Wow! If this game doesn't impress you then go back to knitting because it's as good as its hype. I'm telling you, if games look this good on the Dreamcast (and the machine is nowhere near maxed out) then sod the PS2 - this thing will keep me happy. The Dreamcast seems to have all the bases covered in terms of genres, with the exception of a football game (Virtual Striker, please) at launch, which is something no other console that I can remember has done.

And then there's the little matter of multiplayer action. As well as having four ports (Sony -where are the other two on the PS2 then?), the Dreamcast has a lovely little device that slots into your phone called a modem. Although I remain a little sceptical about playing fighting games online, there's certainly potential there. The Internet will be opened to the masses. The more simple gamers - and by that I don't mean stupid people, just the game players who only dabble with consoles and don't touch PCs - on the net, the better. And what's this I hear? Sony's PlayStation2 doesn't have a modem as of yet? Hmm, bizarre.

I'm not just some propaganda machine for Sega. I happen to have a PlayStation and think it's a great console (as long as you chip it and get some import games). I'm just trying to say I think Sega have learned from their mistakes of the past and are onto a winner. At least give it a chance by renting one of them and see if you're as impressed as I am.

Disclaimer: These are the individual views of Rob, and Future Gamer do not condone the practice of 'chipping' PlayStations. It invalidates the machine's warranty.
