You asked for views about the points made by Jinn in FG48, so here are mine.

Yeah, there's little originality in games nowadays, but it doesn't matter just as long as the games are developed well enough. I bet you loved the two Resident Evil games and wouldn't mind getting your hands on Code Veronica and Nemesis. Dino Crisis adds a nice slant to the genre too. I think the main difference in games nowadays is the fact that Nintendo and Sega don't dominate the market. Sony's PlayStation appeals to a wider range of people, thus resulting in different sorts of game. As for Dreamcast, I think it looks good but it's too early to judge whether it will do well over the 'average' five years. It depends how good much-hyped (and delayed) titles such as Shenmue and D2 do.
