Future Gamer: Issue 50 £0.00

Sega are patting themselves on the back thanks to the phenomenal take-up after the launch of the Dreamcast - 100,000 sold in the first 24 hours, no less. Elsewhere, the march towards faster and faster processors continues with news that 1GHz processors could be in the hands of PC manufacturers as early as February 2000. Bruno Bonnell, grand fromage of French super publishers Infogrames, isn't too bothered by that news though - he thinks the future of videogames lies in handhelds.

Sadly, this is Deputy Editor Steve Bradley's last Future Gamer. Steve's off to London to work for Sega on their online operation. Future Gamer wouldn't be half the magazine it is if it weren't for Steve and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank him for all he's done to get us where we are and to wish him every success with Sega.

The rest of us are still here though, and we're beavering away on next week's issue, so until then - enjoy.

Steve Bradley - Deputy Editor

Preview: UEFA Striker (Dreamcast)
The first of what will surely be dozens of footy games for Sega's new machine is almost finished and we've given it plenty of uppage and diggage on the training pitch, where it's proved itself to be an exciting prospect for the future.
Review: Homeworld (PC)
We've been waiting a long time for this stunning-looking 3D RTS and haven't been disappointed by its looks. Unfortunately, we haven't been quite so blown away by the gameplay and you can find out why here.
Feature: Military Games
The United States Marine Corps use certain videogames as a part of their training. Emma Parkinson kicks off a two-part investigation into just what it is in games, and which ones in particular, the USMC think can help make them better soldiers.
