Infogrames' boss points way forward
The head of super-publisher Infogrames, Bruno Bonnell, reckons the future of videogaming will be based on handheld machines. Speaking at a conference in London and quoted in trade paper CTW, Bonnell points to the increase in the use of mobile phones and the number of Game Boys in existence as evidence that the mobile world will shape videogaming in years to come.
"Nomadic interactivity is the future," said Bonnell. "People will be carrying their games around in their hands. Mobile phones and handhelds will be significant markets. Remember, there are 60 million Game Boys out there worldwide. That's the same as PlayStation, but incredibly Game Boy is just an eight-bit system."
Infogrames are setting up an office in Japan, which may or may not be related to the above. What do you think? Are we all going to be playing games on our mobile phones? You can't beat a TV or monitor can you? Feedback to the usual address, please...
