US-Friendly Robo Buddy

Dear Future Gamer

While the Robotic Operated Buddy for the NES wasn't given any good games, nor was it very practical, it did look good. It also helped sell the idea of the NES to an American audience during a time when they were disillusioned with the videogame industry as a whole, thanks to Atari's complete cock-up.

For that reason alone, NOA and NCL can smile and say good work Gunpei!

Geoffrey Roberts

FG: A good point Geoffrey. Atari had indeed caused major disillusionment and the ROB helped to restore that with its pseudo educational and very 'young and friendly' image. It really was a nine-day wonder but maybe helped (in America at least) to restore confidence more than we give it credit for.
