The Good Old Days?

Dear Future Gamer

You wanted some feedback on irritating text-based adventures. I never was a fan of text adventure games and here's a perfect example of just why.

In the "good old days", I distinctly remember plenty of angry punters being stuck in a section of Spiderman, which, if I remember correctly, was a text-based adventure with graphics. Anyway, to cut a long story short, for some reason the player had to type "hyperventilate" to progress any further in the game! "Exhale" or "breathe out" or anything similar was a no-no; it had to be "hyperventilate"! Bizarre.

Long live the good old days, eh? I think not.

Matt

FG: A good one, Matt. And anyway, hyperventilating is only an increase in the rate and depth of breathing - it's not strictly the same as exhaling, so the designers were wrong to start with. What chance do we have if the game designers get it wrong to start with? I mean, it's like saying 'shoot the C4' and the damn stuff explodes! And we all know that just doesn't happen in real life. Ahem.
