Re-view is our attempt to step back a year and re-evaluate a game from that period to either redress the balance or re-affirm our views of it. Trust us, it'll be fun...
Back in FG6 - December 10-17 - the nation was still embracing (and still are) those loveable Canadian cartoon funsters Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny from South Park, and this time last year we were reviewing their N64 incarnation.
Though the game was lacking in the one-player mode, the reviewer at the time (Les Ellis) was moved to admit, "You can't help but be bowled over by the childish charms held on this cart. It's hysterically funny to play, and with the amount of samples taken from the series (including lots from the new series yet to hit terrestrial TV) and mental action it would be a hard man indeed who didn't end up with a soft spot for this." Les gave the game 78 per cent at the time.
One year on and things have changed. There have been better multiplayer games released and all the amusing snatches of animation and speech have been seen time and time again. South Park, though not the worst game in the world, hasn't survived the test of time too well and is now nothing more than an average multiplayer game set in the South Park world. Today we would give the game a firm 50 per cent.
