If acting like a loony all over Christmas and New Year wasn't enough for you, you'll be getting ready to celebrate next week's full moon. It's traditionally the time for people to go a bit wuuuh, a bit eep! eep! eep! and all that. Of course, some people just sprout fur and claws and get incredible cravings for Winalot, and for all those who can get their paws on a keyboard, the Werewolf website is a fine place to visit. With historical accounts of lycanthropy, a look at the portrayal of werewolves on TV and in films, werewolf folklore and, well, almost everything you'd want to know about the little howling fellas, this is the place to look.
The moon itself is the focus of the Full Moon site, celebrating the fact that 30 years after the Apollo missions, NASA have allowed a selection of 1,200 of their master negatives and transparencies to be electronically scanned. For some truly gorgeous pictures of the moon and the early space missions, you can't beat this. There's even a multimedia journey to the moon and back. We would say that it's literally out of this world, but that's a bit cheesy.
Speaking of the moon and cheese, though, here's Nat Trammell's short essay on the feasibility of the moon being made of the aforesaid dairy product. Some people really need to get out more...
