Is that a wrestler in your pocket?
Sega and Konami are hoping to revitalise the flagging arcade market by providing games compatible with popular home systems.
Sega’s forthcoming wrestling title, Giant Gram All Japan Pro-Wrestling 2, is being developed for both the Dreamcast console and Sega’s Naomi arcade machine. You will be able to train at home, save your favourite wrestler using the VMS, then plug it into the arcade machine and use your superior grappler to impress the ladies.
Konami have announced plans to do something similar with the next instalment in their popular Bust-A-Move series. It is hoped that you will be able to get your mates to ‘boogie on down’ in the arcade to tunes created on your PlayStation, by means of the PocketStation.
The possibilities are astounding. Imagine playing Sega Rally 2 in the arcade with your VMS plugged in. You could use your favourite settings or even a bonus car that you’ve earned through all that extensive ‘training’ at home.
