Snowboard Kids (classic budget range)
N64 Price: £30 From: Nintendo
Players: 1-4 Age: n/a Release: Out Now

Snowboard Kids is the joker of the pack. But it's by no means a terrible game

FG checks out Nintendo's cut-price classics...
James Price

The joker of the pack, in many respects, Snowboard Kids is merely 'good'. A stylised snowboarding game that favours cute and colourful (rather than the established, over-subscribed 'sim' approach), it's a fun little racer. In fact, it owes more to Mario Kart than to 1080 degrees. The 'snowboarding' theme, tricks and downhill tracks aside, it is little more than that, if you catch Future Gamer's (snow) drift.

With Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing as its rivals, Snowboard Kids is a title for the die-hard. It's a shame, because it's a pleasant game to play. But, in the N64 pecking order, it forever hankers for a bit of of status-enhancing beak. And why make the characters so ugly? If God made humans in his own image, what does that, in turn, say about the Kids development team? We should be told.

Fine racing game, but there are better ones to be found. 78%
