The little cherub-like green creatures are far from innocent
It looks like something you'd find in a junk shop, and at first glance you might think it's an old Spectrum game which has been re-released; but the really puzzling thing about Yo Yo's Puzzle Park is that it's actually quite good...
Gideon Kibblewhite
Puzzles aren't everyone's cup of tea, it's true, and 2D platform games are about as in vogue as shoulder pads at the moment. What people want today is stunning 3D, superbly done simulations, and guns and body-counts galore. What people do NOT require right now is a yet another bloody 2D platform puzzler, right? It's a fair point, but then Yo Yo's Puzzle Park is more than just another bloody 2D platform puzzler.
Cute but devilish, easy to get the hang of - yet gradually more difficult as you progress through its 128 (yes, 128) levels, Yo Yo is a puzzle game that can be enjoyed even by those who normally (cough) hate this sort of thing.
Like many beautiful things, Yo Yo is very simple in essence. Screen by screen you must make cuddly little Yo Yo kill all the blob-like creatures (whose very touch is death) by activating the bombs which lie about. You do this by gingerly approaching a bomb and setting it ticking, then getting the hell out of the way (explosives as well as the blob-like creatures are equally bad for the little fella's health).
Yo Yo can - with the square button - push a blob (they have a habit of moving about, inconveniently) next to a bomb so it can be killed; and in the same way he can push a bomb next to a blob.
