Dear Future Gamer,
Is there any rational reason why the Dreamcast release date has been set back a further three weeks? A further three weeks without any sales to compete with Sony and Nintendo can't be doing much good for the profitability of the Dreamcast project. This setback will discourage many potential customers from buying the system because of the poor administration etc.
If the 'increased Internet service and support' is the reason for this delay I am sure that customers would prefer to have the consoles on 23rd September to PLAY the games they have been wanting. Those who want to use the internet service can wait the three weeks for it, at least having their consoles on time.
If Sega are trying to converge the release dates of the first 25 games, surely they'd figure that it's better to have the console out with less games than make the public wait a further angered three weeks to buy the console with a further choice of 12 or so games - which they probably won't be able to afford because they've just bought the console and one or two games.
Is Sega still using the same strategy that killed the MegaCD, 32x, Saturn etc?

We've been inundated with emails since we broke the news of the Dreamcast's European launch being delayed for three weeks, and not surprisingly. It's a tough one to call because you're never going to please everyone, no matter what course of action you take. Sega obviously wanted everything to be smooth at launch so that people don't associate Dreamcast with the phrase 'going off half-cocked'. Maybe they've made a right call this time? We shall see.
