Tib Sun Slated

Dear Future Gamer

Asking for opinions about a C&C: TS review is asking for trouble. Arguably C&C has done something for the industry - I have no idea what, but alas, everybody keeps telling me it has so there has to be some truth to the story. Would I have had to review any of the three C&C games, none of them would have got a score higher than 60 per cent. To be totally honest, I would have only given them a little bit over 20 per cent. The 60 per cent is because I try to understand that people who seem to enjoy games like C&C and TA, and who don't care about gameplay, balance, storyline, attention to detail and the mysterious 'it' that a truly great game requires, do exist.

Yes, I think the C&C and TA series are nothing more than crap for the blind masses. Sometimes I long for the PC Gamer UK early days, when they weren't afraid to totally hammer down a big game when it deserved it. Nowadays even Edge reviews are a bit dodgy, and I've stopped reading PC Gamer UK altogether - it's a kids' magazine now. I still read PC Gamer USA, which has totally surpassed the UK edition in every aspect, and I still read Future Gamer, but reviews like these make me want to skip directly to the Gamer Life section et al.

FG: Ouch. There's an argument that Tib Sun wasn't far enough away from the original C&C game to warrant the 90% we gave it (though we still think it's worth that score), but to say you'd only have given C&C just over 20 per cent? Cripes, what would you have given Tetris? "Dull, 2D puzzle game - 10 per cent"? I think you're being far too harsh. Please people, don't bombard me with emails on this, I reckon we've been through it enough.
