PSX2 - First Impressions

Dear Future Gamer

The Playstation2 then... Looks scarily like a 3DO, doesn't it? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly baffled by the lack of built-in four-player support and the move to the easily-broken-by-younger-siblings 'tray-loading' CD drive. The announced games sadly appear to be the usual batch of Jap RPG and beat 'em up sequels. I trust Sony will address this lack of original, triple-A titles before the US/Euro release.

FG: It's certainly not what we expected the machine to look like, and early opinions seem to be split between loving the look of it or absolutely hating it. We were baffled by the lack of four-player support too, but then we thought, cynically, that it gives Sony the chance to sell truck loads of Multi Taps again. The early shots of games we've seen seem to suggest that there will be plenty of decent, original games ready in time for the European launch.
