PlayStation2 - Be Patient

Dear Future Gamer

With regards to PlayStation2 hater (FG47); Olly don't you think you're being a little premature in slating this machine? If I remember rightly, many people whinged that the Dreamcast would be a steaming pile and would wait for the PS2, and they laughed when the machine didn't get off to such a rosy start. However, the anticipation for the Dreamcast launch in the UK is greater than for any other machine. Just because PS2 doesn't have certain features that DC or N64 has, it doesn't mean that PS2 definitely won't have them when it launches.

Hell, PS2 hasn't even been released anywhere yet, so don't just immediately think that these will be the final specs for the machine that launches. Twelve launch games isn't too bad either. The SNES only had about four and PlayStation and Saturn not many more. And N64 had, erm... how many? Well, virtually none anyway. The games that will be released on the PS2 will be completely different to their predecessors. Is Sonic Adventure the same as Sonic? Is Soul Calibur the same as Soul Blade? No. The games become completely different on new machines because the power to add new ideas is there.

Now I'm not a PS lover or anything like that. Heck, I have a Dreamcast now (had one for months) so I'm not biased. I think there's still a lot of news and rumours to fly about before we see what the PS2 is all about.

FG: Worms. Can of. Opened. Hey, let's put X-Box, Dolphin, PS2 and Dreamcast in a big ring and let them fight it out. Maybe not. So much conjecture, so many months before the PlayStation2 sees the light of day. Just get Ready 2 Rumble for the Dreamcast and live a little.
