Sony Bias?

Dear Future Gamer

I'm hugely confused, you know.

I want you to answer a simple question, with no hint of bias or favouritism. Okay, it is...

Q. Is the Nintendo 64 a success or a failure in relation to the Sony PlayStation? From reading the millions of Future Gamer magazines littered across my disk drives, I get the idea that you're slightly biased towards the commercially successful PlayStation, while also acknowledging the gaming brilliance of the N64. But are you saying that both games consoles are equally as fab? Surely that's only to appease the millions of people who blabber on about which is the better console.

I want to know which is the most successful - the PlayStation or the Nintendo 64. In terms of anything... games, advertising, graphics, power consumption efficiency... whatever you feel is necessary. NOT which is better, but which is the most successful.

And don't tell me you won't answer it, because I'll take that as meaning that you can't answer it. And if anyone is qualified to answer this question, it's the staff at Future Gamer.

Come on, cause some controversy!

FG: Why one earth should we be biased towards a particular gaming console? It's the games that are important, surely? You can love Super Mario 64 and Gran Turismo, GoldenEye 007 and Final Fantasy VII. And Half-Life for that matter. The PlayStation is more successful than the N64 by dint of its worldwide hardware and software sales. Somehow though, it does seem that Nintendo (Miyamoto/Rare) put a little bit more love into their games (cue deluge of criticism).

Your thoughts to the usual address, please...
