Namco, perhaps the PlayStation's finest game developers, have produced the breathtaking beat 'em up Soul Calibur for Dreamcast. Sega will probably sell thousands of consoles on the back of this one title alone.

Action RPG Shenmue, which is due to launch next spring, is rumoured to have cost $20 million to develop. Phenomenal. With over 200 characters to interact with and some 1,200 rooms, it's set to be a landmark title in the history of videogames.

Dreamcast uses a customised version of Microsoft's Windows CE for its operating system. Essentially, this makes it darned easy to port games from PC to Dreamcast, and to develop simultaneously for both systems.

Sega Japan are launching a headset microphone with which you could 'chat' with gaming opponents when you're playing online. A European launch? Dunno, yet...

The European modem employed is 33.6kbs, while the US Dreamcast has a much faster 56kbs version. Bugger! Still, you'll be able to upgrade to a quicker modem which will enable you to download stuff from the Internet much faster.

One of the characters in the fantastic boxing game Ready 2 Rumble is a Victorian gentleman from Chester called W. Johnson. He sports a splendid centre-parting, a twirling moustache and a pair of slacks. He's 108 years old. You must play this game.

Dreamcast proudly owns 16Mb of operating RAM, which is eight times more memory than Sony's PlayStation. Basically, this means that everything shifts a darned sight quicker on Sega's console.
