| Konami, Disney and ESPN Bond |
The three companies will work together with co-branded sports videogames
Konami, ESPN and Disney Interactive have announced that they will produce sports games for systems across the board. They plan to release approximately 10 titles in the US next month for multiple systems, starting with Major League Baseball and NBA Basketball for the Dreamcast, plus Major League Soccer for the PlayStation.
We contacted Konami and questioned whether the Game Boy Color was to be involved in this partnership. A Konami representative stated that while no announcement has been made, if and when sports titles go into development for the Game Boy Color, this ESPN branding will very likely happen on those games.
Konami are known for their XXL sports brand with Bottom of the Ninth (baseball), NBA In the Zone (basketball), and International Superstar Soccer/Major League Soccer. This deal with ESPN will most likely mean a new name for each of Konami's sports series.
