The little wrigglers with weapons are about to make their N64 debut. Are you ready for Armageddon?
Les Ellis

Anyone who was around when the Amiga was the king of videogame machines will remember Worms fondly: gangs of worms, blowing the hell out of each with some of the craziest weapons imaginable. It was simple and it was fun, and when a few players got going, it rapidly turned into one of the most vindictive multiplayer games ever. But then the Amiga died, and despite several attempts to resurrect the Worms phenomenon on later machines, it never really took off again. Now the worm has turned. They're back.

Thankfully, the biggest enhancement in the game has cleared up the only real flaw the original ever had. Instead of the one-player game being a demonstration of how much of a crackshot a computer-controlled worm could be, while you struggled to get a target in range, you now get specific missions, as well as opposing worms that are no longer infallible. And as good as the one-player mode is (and it's a very good one), the sheer genius of Worms opens up when you plug in a few extra controllers.

Once the landscape is generated (which can be random, so you won't get the same levels every time) your team gets to take turns unleashing crazy weapons - poison skunks and banana bombs, anyone? Hammer an opposing worm and he loses energy. Hit him enough or get him to fall off a ledge and he dies. Of course, while you're doing that, someone will no doubt have you lined up as their next target.
