Dear Future Gamer

I can't help but feel that your review of Rally Championship for PlayStation sold the game short. Indeed, one of your comments that, "...although it looks like an exhilarating ride, Rally Championship just doesn't feel like one..." could not be further from the truth in my opinion. If hurtling down a narrow country lane at close to 150mph with the car balanced on a knife edge, my heart racing and knowing that one tiny mistake could end in disaster then I obviously don't know meaning of the word.

As if this wasn't enough, you describe the handling as being more like an arcade racer. While we all have our own opinions on something as subjective as this, when I got the game home and played it for the first time, I thought I must have purchased the wrong game. For a start, the handling is very sensitive and requires delicate control and it's imperative to use the brake if you don't want to find yourself inspecting the scenery at every turn; not that you'll mind though, given the unrivalled graphics.

Not only this but the game is far more challenging than recent titles such as GT2, as every stage demands complete concentration from start to finish if you want to put up a competitive time. My only real grievance, and something you failed to mention in your review, is the dramatic drop in frame rate which occurs on stage six of the opening rally. This really is a shame as it makes it impossible to get a fast enough time to keep you in the top five points scoring positions, one of which I consistently find myself in after the first five stages.

It seems that bugs like these that severely damage gameplay are all too often missed by reviews, which is annoying when people like myself rely on your informed opinions to help make purchasing decisions.

FG: A review simply can't cover every single angle. The idea is to give you, as you point out, a subjective opinion of the game for you to make your buying decision. Catherine obviously didn't think the slowdown on stage six was serious enough to affect her opinion of the game.
