It has been suggested that Sega Japan are currently working on a Saturn emulator for the Dreamcast. The software, tentatively named Sat-Cast, will be loaded into the Dreamcast’s memory and will feature the option to change emulation speed as well as a debug mode. More details will emerge after the project is unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show this month.

Red Storm Entertainment have confirmed that a sequel to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six is in development. “The sequel is looking incredible!” stated an excited spokesperson. “I can’t wait to be able to talk about it. It is a true sequel! Sorry, I cannot comment on the sequel’s features. You will just have to trust us: it will be a truly amazing game.” And who are we to argue? (Remember that these people are paid to get excited).

Elexis Sinclaire may be gone, but evil still lurks in the city of Freeport as Activision prepare to release the Sin Mission Pack: Wages of Sin. The add-on features 17 new single-player levels, including a casino and shipyard, and nine multiplayer maps, including four exclusive hoverbike levels. Sounds fantastic? We think so. Even better is the fact that it should be hitting the shelves any time now.

Disney/Pixar’s A Bug’s Life is due to be released on the N64 this Spring. You get to take on the role of the film’s hero Flik, a clumsy yet inventive ant, who enlists the help of a group of bugs, who are flea circus performers, in order to save his colony from the hands of the villainous Hopper. It’s unlikely that this will be any better than the PlayStation version, which scored a rather poor 55% in issue 14 of Future Gamer.

Owners of Sim City 3000 now have the opportunity to download some extra landmarks, thanks to Electronic Arts. All you need to do is point your browser at The Sim City Site to download the Plug-in Tool and then choose your favourite landmarks. Currently available packs include New York (with the public library and the Art Deco delights of the Guggenheim Museum) and San Francisco (featuring the Museum of Modern Art and the stunning Transamerica Tower).

Things got quite heated in the Future Gamer Chat Forum this week, as HOOKED reports for us. The major topic of conversation was (quite rightly) the news that Sony have finally announced a release date for Playstation 2. After everyone had picked their jaws up off the floor after seeing the spec of the beast (I mean, come on, it IS impressive), they gladly enlightened us all on what they thought of it. Some views expressed created a degree of controversy among the forum readers, indeed it was almost 'handbags at dawn' stuff between two participants (who have since shaken electronic hands I might add!). The effect on Dreamcast was looked at, with some feeling it is in big trouble already, others convinced the lead time it has over Sony could swing things in Sega's favour. All agreed that having the two competing head to head can only be a good thing for us gamers however. Some sceptical voices were also raised over the release date Sony have announced. Is it a realistic one, or is it just a cynical attempt by Sony to deflect attention from Sega? What do YOU think? Let us know! Elsewhere, the old 'PC vs Console' debate reared its head again, always a topic guaranteed to provoke a strong response from forum readers. Of course, all the regular topics came up again. Help was requested (and given) on a variety of hardware and software-related problems, the weather in Bath was discussed, and Attica and Kaneda even found time to reveal their affinity for hamsters and sheep… whatever floats your boat guys. So, if you have any views on these or any other topics, and you would like to express them to a host of faceless strangers, then drop into the Chat Forum! You never know what you might find.....…
