| Eidos launch Internet Service Provider |
Eidos offer new ISP to gamers free of charge
Eidos have teamed up wth Easynet to provide an Internet service called Eidosnet. Launched last week, the service provides ‘free of subscription’ Internet access via a local charge 0845 number. Eidosnet offers multiple email addresses, 20Mb of personal Web space, a news service and telephone support (charged at 50 pence per minute).
The initial agreement between the companies is for six months and the service is available in the UK only, but there are plans to expand into France and Germany. Eidosnet is naturally being targeted at the growing multiplayer gaming scene, and those who want to subscribe, can do so at the The Eidosnet Site.
“It is becoming increasingly important for us to offer our customers a wide variety of services and a rich experience on the Web”, commented Charles Cornwall, chief executive of Eidos. “A high quality, low cost connection is an important component of that, more so as an increasing number of our titles include the possibility for multiplayer gaming across the Internet.”
Easynet chairman David Rowe was equally effusive: “Easynet is delighted to be working with Eidos to offer fast and reliable Internet connectivity to many thousands of PC game users. Both Easynet and Eidos believe the Internet will increasingly become the medium of choice for delivering multimedia entertainment including the rapidly growing, and increasingly sophisticated, multiplayer gaming market.”
