The Language Of Videogaming
Digitiser

Digitiser, Channel 4 Teletext's games mag starting on p670, has over 1.5 million readers daily, yet you've probably never heard of it. We cuss you up bad.

The reason Digi's never hit the mainstream (apart from having more readers than every conventional games mag in the country put together, but you know what we mean) is the very thing that makes it fantastically tremendous - a fiercely dense writing style and a cast of characters that redefines "culty" as (as resident news pundit Zombie Dave would have it) "thhhhhhhh bbbbbssssss thhhhhhh vvvvvvvvr".

Amazingly, it's entirely possible to lap at Digi's enjoyment ankles without having the slightest interest in games (think a comedy mag - but about games, and you'll have the idea), but the games coverage itself is impeccable, except that like just about everyone else, sinister Digi mastermind Mr Biffo treats poor things far too leniently.

Read an ish of Digi and see just how many bits of style you recognise. Everyone rips it off, because it is excellent. The most popular secret thing on television.
