Championship Manager 3 is the fastest-selling PC game ever, according to the weekly trade papers CTW and MCV.

How many it actually sold on its first two days on sale is subject to conjecture, though. MCV confidently suggests that it notched 70,000 sales in two days. CTW takes a more conservative stance, naming 55,000 as the figure.

Whatever the number, the CM3 launch wasn't devoid of hitches. CTW reports that some multiple stores put the game on sale before the official street date. Which is naughty. There are also reports that some people had technical problems loading the darned thing, and Eidos are making a patch available in the none-too-distant. Which is nice.

CTW's lead piece concerns ELSPA's continued efforts to combat piracy. ELSPA are to launch a fresh campaign to heighten public awareness about the dangers of piracy, following in the steps of the video industry's remarkably successful TV campaign (involving a dodgy market stall and the sneeringly delivered tagline "Video piracy - daylight robbery").

MCV leads with news of Electronics Boutique's in-store racking trial with supermarket chain Sainsbury. "Metal Gear Solid, you say? On the left mate, just past the fruit and veg. No, don't snap my neck like a twig. Cheers."
