Starcraft for two

Nintendo release details of Starcraft multiplayer

The Nintendo 64 version of Starcraft, which will be playable at next month's E3 in Los Angeles, has remained the focus of much debate for months. The topic in question, of course, was the game's multiplayer mode, and more specifically, the details regarding the inner workings of the mode and just how many people it would support.

Nintendo has finally put an end to speculation with the announcement that Starcraft (N64) will indeed feature a two-player split-screen mode. Players will be able to play with a friend in head-to-head action or, if it's allies they seek, a co-operative mode is also available. Exactly how many multiplayer levels are available is not yet known, though the game does feature between 55 and 60 missions in single-player mode.

Early speculation suggested the title would support Nintendo's rumoured modem upgrade, but that is false.
