Mountain biking title links with cycle manufacturer
Codemasters have joined forces with mountain bike manufacturer Giant for the release of the forthcoming PlayStation and PC title No Fear Downhill Mountain Biking. Giant are the world's largest manufacturer of bicycles and the idea is that they will provide Codemasters with technical advice to enhance the game's realism and performance. However, the game is nigh-on finished so it's unlikely that it will change much at this stage.
"No Fear Downhill Mountain Biking is a first class videogame," commented Giant's Ian Beasent. "Downhill mountain biking is one of the ultimate extreme sports, and this gives us the opportunity to expose it to the masses."
Codemasters' David Solari added: "We are very excited about working with Giant for this project, their technical knowledge and experience will be of great value to Codemasters. Giant's involvement will achieve a significant response from our target market and provide added credibility for the game."
Whether the link-up will be enough to make the game exciting is another matter. One wonders whether digital cycling is fast enough to really grip videogamers. We'll see...
