Nibbles page 2 of 2

Future Gamer reported a while back on the fancy new colour schemes for Game Boy Color. Remember? The colours were Kiwi, Berry, Dandelion and Teal. Nice colours one and all, shame about the sissy names. Thankfully, Nintendo have realised the error of their ways and have changed the names for the European release. The new 'hard as nails' names are SuperGrass (Kiwi), Freaky Devil (Berry), Sunray (Dandelion) and Shark (Teal). An improvement, for sure, although we're still not convinced that Sunray is tough enough.

In their forthcoming PC title Max Payne, The Gathering of Developers' have taken a novel approach to the problem of boring load times. Graphic novel to be precise. In keeping with the dark feel of the game, graphic novel-style scenes will be shown while each level loads, giving you a chance to keep up with the story. In related news, Gene Simmons of glam-rockers KISS has secured the rights to any Max Payne movies.

Plenty of activity on the Future Gamer Chat Forum this week as it was given a major new facelift by the powers that be. Very nice it looks too, and readers will find it a lot easier to navigate the postings, which are updated as they come in now as well. Everyone seemed to like the new look, especially those whose favourite colour is green! More news on the [FGC] clan this week, as they are currently getting registered with GUN (the Games United Network) enabling the squads to get involved in league play, with chances to win fame and fortune and, er, other good things. Interest in the [FGC] is definitely growing, and games such as Quake 2, Delta Force and Age of Empires have all been mentioned (along with Half-Life of course) as possible [FGC] killing fields. If you are a regular on these (or any other) online games then why not get in on the act? Stop by the Forum and speak to Felix. Due to the increasing interest in the [FGC], 'Jaffa' has also put together a step-by-step guide on exactly what to do to join. Go to his website for more details. Phew! Aside from all this [FGC] lark, what else has been happening? Well, there is a growing clamour in the Forum to get a 'Bring Back GamesMaster!' campaign off the ground, with 'Kev' claiming that Dominik Diamond should be nominated for president. At least there will be no danger of him going bald from all the stress, eh?

Check out the Future Gamer website for the latest demos and patches, as well as hints & tips for all your favourite games. Lara fans might want to download the Tomb Raider II: The Golden Mask demo, featuring one of the new levels in fully playable form. The hottest patch this week has to be the third Gangsters update, as well as a complete level editor for Gruntz. Recent additions to the hints & tips database include Syphon Filter on PlayStation, Beetle Adventure Racing for the N64, Rollercoaster Tycoon on the PC and Sega Rally 2 on the Dreamcast.
