GT to advertise Driver on TV in July

Anybody see Channel 4's evening of Starsky and Hutch programmes last Monday? During the documentary, Antonio Fargas, the actor who played bar owner and Starsky and Hutch confidant Huggy Bear, complained that he felt typecast after playing the role. Have you seen him in anything else since Starsky and Hutch?

The good news is that Fargas is to star in GT Interactive's forthcoming TV ads for Driver playing the role of - you guessed it - a '70s 'fly guy'. Apparently, it goes something like this: Huggy, sorry, Fargas saunters from a lift in a darkened car park and heads towards a shiny black Mustang whereupon he addresses the driver (the Driver!)... "We've heard a lot about you. You any good? Hey Starsky!" (actually, he doesn't say the last bit).

Then the camera cuts to a close-up of the car's gear stick which features the PlayStation symbols and then you get to see the Mustang bouncing over bridges in the in-game action. The ad runs from the beginning of July on Channels 4 and 5 as well as on Sky Sports and Sky 1 for the dishy cablers among you.

Driver has been delayed and delayed, so although you may have seen reviews in some of the magazines, the game isn't by any means finished. Look out for Future Gamer's definitive review in the coming weeks.
