Infogrames sign Spurs boss

George Graham's mug to adorn Player Manager box

Infogrames have signed up Tottenham Hotspur manager, George Graham, to endorse their forthcoming PlayStation title Player Manager '99. The Spurs boss, who was once banned from football for a year for bung-taking, is apparently seen by Infogrames as being the ideal manager to promote the title.

The previous PlayStation Player Manager was roundly booed off at half-time but Anco reckon all the problems with the last incarnation (little detail, crap control system) have been sorted. We'll see.

Infogrames will be advertising the title on Radio 5 Live and Graham will make an appearance at the game's launch event which is to be held at London's Sports Café (you could hardly expect George to leave the Smoke, eh?). The game is released on June 25. Future Gamer reckons you should swap Graham for David O'Leary after the first few games of the season.

In the spirit of things, here's Future Gamer's Top Five football endorsement tragedies...

1. Everton FC Intelligensia (Amiga) - surely a contradiction in terms?!
2. Graeme Souness Vector Soccer (Amiga) - we'll get our coats.
3. Gary Lineker's Superstar Soccer (Spectrum/C64) - coded by Americans, it was quite literally a game of three halves!
4. John Barnes European Football (Amiga) - did he ever play club football in Europe? Not very often.
5. Graham Taylor's Soccer Challenge (Amiga) - released before the World Cup qualifying debacle, this was actually a rather good game.
