A Site For Sore Eyes
|
| The Official 1999 Wimbledon site |
It's that strawberries and cream time of year again, a time when British hopes are built up and then cruelly dashed in the third or fourth round. Yes folks, Wimbledon is upon us. Future Gamer has plunged headfirst into the tangled heart of the Internet to find you the definitive source of all things bat and ball. There are a lot of quality sites out there, as you would expect, but the best has to be the Official Site of the 1999 Wimbledon Championships by IBM.
This site has got every bit of information you need, from daily schedules and player profiles to a full results service. There's plenty of fancy stuff too – we've found the Java scoreboard particularly useful with its 'ball-by-ball' update from every court. You can also get live commentary from Radio Wimbledon as well as constantly updated images from around the grounds via the Netcams.
And if that's not enough, have a go at some of the fun and games. Try the Trivia Quiz for a chance to win some nifty tennis-related prizes or have a game of Virtual Tennis against a computer opponent. Then there are all the desktop enhancements and postcards and… just go and check it out for yourselves. You won't be disappointed. Unless you hate tennis, of course.
