Wireplay ScotLAN party

LAN party set for Irvine in Scotland

BT's games network, Wireplay, are sponsoring an online games party at the Magnum Leisure Centre at Irvine in Scotland. ScotLAN (LAN meaning Local Area Network) takes place from July 23-25 and is being organised by Multiplay UK, the team who were responsible for Insomnia '99 which took place in Bicester in March.

Over 200 gamers are expected to converge on Irvine for three non-stop days of multiplayer gaming. Participants bring their own PCs and software and Wireplay provide the servers and other hardware. ScotLAN will feature a number of special Quake events hosted by Rapture '99.

"The level of interest and enthusiasm for LAN parties is just phenomenal," said James Kaye, player manager of Wireplay (player manager, eh?). "At Insomnia '99, we were struck by how many people had made the long journey down from Scotland to Oxfordshire and I think we decided then that our next event should be north of the border".

Anyone who is interested in taking part in ScotLAN should contact Multiplay for further details.
