Eidos trade RE3 for Tomb Raider IV

Capcom and Eidos complete their cross-licensing deal

Eidos plc today announced an extension of their publishing deal with Capcom. The agreement initially enabled Eidos to publish Resident Evil 3: Nemesis on the PlayStation in Europe and Australia, with future negotiations to provide more for Capcom's side of the bargain. This extension brings in Capcom's side, giving it the cross-licensing rights to publish the fourth Tomb Raider instalment in Japan and Asia.

Eidos have yet to announce the next Tomb Raider (Tomb Raider IV: Last Revelation), although it has already appeared on several retail release lists as scheduled for November.

"Capcom are one of the premier publishers in Japan and Eidos are pleased to partner them in bringing the next game in the Tomb Raider franchise to this important market," said Mike McGarvey of Eidos.

"Capcom are very excited to establish this partnership with Eidos in Japan and in the Asian countries," said Capcom's executive director, Haruhiro Tsujimoto. "With the power of Capcom's sales and marketing, we will continuously assist the success of the Tomb Raider franchise in Japan and other Asian countries. We also expect Eidos' efforts to maximise our sales of the Resident Evil series in Europe and Australia/New Zealand territories".
