Pirate Proof CDs?

Dear Future Gamer

I was interested in the feature about piracy (FG39), where the writer mentioned Sony consider two emulators to be illegal. Well, Sony managed to prove that one of them broke the law, but as a firm supporter of Bleem! (the other one), and who has spoken to the people behind it on several occasions, I would have to say Sony are wrong.

Also, the un-copyable CD has already been created by the Bleem! team to silence Sony, and a lot of people who where 'messing with it' reported that it was un-copyable. This was done by adding loads of false data tracks and lines on the surface of the CD, which looks quite impressive. The protection is so good that for a while the CD didn't run on my drive.

FG: Just because you reckon Bleem! is legal doesn't actually make it so. I suspect various lawyers on either side are still debating the legality of the PlayStation emulator. As for the un-copyable CD, it's all well and good making a CD un-copyable, but if that also means it's unplayable then there's little point to it.
