| 40 Winks |
| PlayStation |
From: GT Interactive |
Not content with the Driver phenomenon, GT Interactive have decided to have a pop at Mario with this cutesy 3D platformer. It's not often that you get a decent PlayStation platformer, so GT can be forgiven for borrowing heavily from the likes of Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie. Originality aside, 40 Winks is nicely designed, fun to play and graced with beautiful graphics - indeed, some of the finest seen on Sony's little grey box. As one of a pair of twins, Ruff and Tumble (groan), you'll run, jump and bash your way through six massive dream worlds, interspersed with the occasional race or boss battle. If platformers are your bag and you haven't got an N64, buy 40 Winks.

| Killer Loop |
| PlayStation |
From: Crave |
Why would anyone want to fork out 40 quid on a Wipeout clone when you can pick up the real thing for under 20? Killer Loop isn't a terrible game - the graphics are pretty impressive, the tripod-style vehicles handle reasonably well and there are a few good-looking tracks, but it doesn't have the feel of Wipeout, or the stylish presentation, or the breakneck speed. Some people may actually prefer this to the big W... the same people who preferred All Saints' woeful rendition of the Chilli Peppers' classic Under The Bridge, probably. Killer Loop is a Ford Escort with full body-kit to Wipeout's Ferrari. At twice the price you'd be a fool to buy it.
