| Sony Unveil Five New Games |
SCEA will bring Legend of Dragoon, skateboarding, Wild Arms 2 and more this spring
Sony Computer Entertainment America today revealed their plans to bring a wide variety of videogames to PlayStation this spring, the biggest of which is the lavish, four-disc RPG Legend of Dragoon, due this June.
The total line-up includes these five titles, in chronological order:
Speed Punks (known as Speed Freaks over here) April 18
Wild Arms 2 - May 2
Medievil II - May 9
Grind Session - May 23
Legend of Dragoon - June 13
With the exception of Medievel II and Grind Session, which looks like a frighteningly unapologetic Tony Hawk clone, all of these titles are on retail shelves in either Japan or Europe already.
"The spring season promises to be exceptional for PlayStation gamers," said Ami Blaire, Director of Product Marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "There are now 25 million PlayStation owners in the United States - equating to a PlayStation in one out of every four US households - so it's important that we continue to support the platform and deliver quality software for a broad audience."
Grind Session could be a very interesting game. Essentially an arcade skateboarding game with a more "realistic feel," it enables players to pull off huge tricks with a dozen or so real pro skaters in a wide range of environments from across the country.
At least 12 alternative bands are in the process of being signed at the moment, but Sony couldn't confirm any just yet. Players will compete in four one-player modes, jump half-pipes and perform tricks for skate magazine covers and videos. Players can also skate through eight freestyle areas, plough through several multiplayer modes and use an in-person camera to locate the tough spots. Can it beat Tony Hawk? We'll see.
