| Dreamcast Digital Camera Hits Japan in April |
Now when you defeat an online opponent in Virtual On, you can send pics of your ass to him
An article in Japan's BizTech News! reveals that the sending and retrieval of digital animation will become possible on Dreamcast in the spring of this year. At a conference held in Tokyo on January 21, a managing director at CSK announced that a Dreamcast-compatible digital camera, which was revealed late last year as being in development, could be released as early as April to the Japanese market.
The camera, which connects to the Dreamcast, will be small (as small as a box of cigarettes, according to the article in BizTech News!) and will function with a microphone peripheral to grab sound, in addition to video. Once you've recorded something onto your Dreamcast you can go online to send the data to another Dreamcast user. Additionally, the camera can be used for taking still shots. Software for the device is currently in development.
At the conference in Tokyo, Sega demonstrated the use of the camera, although a formal public announcement isn't expected until February. Hopefully, the announcement will include clarification on exactly how Dreamcast owners will be able to store the data recorded with the camera.
