Dear Future Gamer
Look, I don't mean to sound like a whinging bastard or an anti mass-market hippie or something, but I find your coverage of the PS2 launch shocking. Dreamcast received cautious "wait and see, it could be quite good" journalism, while everything you've said about PS2 recently has been press release polemic. The rumours you printed about the PS2 launch have been dismissed as "unlikely" and in your eyes Sony can do no wrong. Well, I've got news for you - they can. They can dilute this industry even further, bury the competition and completely trash videogame heritage. I'm not asking you to diss PS2 for no reason (hell, I'll end up buying one in September, no doubt), I'm just asking for a bit of the good old cynical journalism that we all need to keep us in check. Is that too much to ask?

FG:
We always try to keep our coverage balanced but the simple fact is that PlayStation2 is the most important machine launch in recent years and people are screaming for any piece of news they can get. We're simply trying to satisfy that demand. We haven't ignored the negative though - we ran the story that Sony had to recall all the machine's 8Mb memory cards. Even though further research has shown that this story was false, it proves we will run any interesting news on the console, positive or negative.
