Interplay announce sequel to The Great War

FreeSpace 2 is set in 2367, 32 years after The Great War. The Shivans have resurfaced and are mounting a new offensive against the Terrans and the Vasudans, who have formed a strong alliance since the first war.

Developers Volition Inc. are promising 70 different types of ship, new multiplayer missions, improved graphics and even more intense space combat than we saw when Descent FreeSpace: The Great War landed on our PCs over a year ago.

"Our goal for FreeSpace 2 is to set a new standard in both multiplayer and single-player space combat sims, encompassing heart-pounding dogfights and spectacular visual effects," said Mike Kulas, president of Volition.

FreeSpace 2 should be hitting stores by the end of the year.
