Iomega Corporation and Sega have been in talks regarding a 100Mb zip drive for the Dreamcast. It is hoped that the add-on will increase the Dreamcast's capacity for both games and Internet use. "Dreamcast represents a whole new way of thinking at Sega," said Sega's Hideki Sato. "We will be able to enhance the potential of the Dreamcast further due to the architectural partnership between Iomega and Sega."

Black Isle have confirmed that there will soon be a DVD version of their hugely successful RPG, Baldur's Gate. "Due to the incredible success of the original Baldur's Gate, we are planning to release a version of the game on DVD," said a note on the game's official site. "We haven't finalised all the details yet, but we are planning to have the DVD version available by early summer." Let's hope we see a bit of innovation and effort - DVD is an expansive medium. Chances are we'll get a whole new batch of pre-rendered cut-scenes.

Have we had enough of breeding simulations yet? Not according to NEC Interchannel, who are due to release Mercurius Pretty: End of the Century for Dreamcast in early summer. This time you have to breed a spirit by discussing various topics to shape its personality. If conversation starts to lag, you can always send your spirit off on a quest in the fantasy world of Virtua Crystal. And then move home while it's away. Or perform an exorcism.

Let's dance! Konami are working on yet another version of Dance Dance Revolution, entitled Dance Dance Revolution Solo Bass Mix. New features include six buttons instead of the usual four and a new non-stop dancing mode, to test how long you can keep dancing for. Lionel Blair would certainly get value for his yen, although he's probably banned from all Japanese arcades by now. In addition, Konami are set to release a Dance Dance Revolution vibration prevention mat for the PlayStation, which will reduce the rumble generated by the PlayStation's DDR controller.

Sega and Expert Software are set to release a selection of Saturn classics for the PC at just £14.99 each. Confirmed titles are Sega Worldwide Soccer PC, Virtua Cop, Sega Rally Championship, Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Fighter and Daytona USA Deluxe. To celebrate the launch, Expert Software will be offering a 'Buy One Get One Free' mail-in deal on all six titles. Choose your freebie from four yet-to-be-released games - NBA Action, Garfield, Bug and Last Bronx.

Capcom are porting Resident Evil to Game Boy Color. Although the characters are limited to 2D sprites due to the system's constraints, the ambitious project is already looking rather good. But can the horror of the PlayStation classic translate without the use of vivid imagery and sound? No release date has been set at present.

June sees the Japanese release of Konami's Melty Lancer: The 3rd Planet on the PlayStation. The game, touted as 'a popular pretty girl battle and simulation title', puts you in the role of a member of the Galaxy Police. You'll be required to solve various crimes in three distinct play styles - 'investigation', 'battle' and 'adventure'. 'Investigation' involves talking to different characters in an effort to find clues, while 'battle' takes place in the standard RPG style.
