A Site For Sore Eyes
Haptek Virtual Friends

This is a weird one. Head to the Haptek website, download their VirtualFriend3 software (it only takes a few seconds) and then you're ready to create your very own virtual friend. The characters you end up with are peculiar in the extreme, and are created by choosing characteristics from three lists. The first gives you choices like Chimp, Burger, Lumpy and Bug, the second lets you add features like Fish, Gridhead and Slime, while the final lets you choose a background for these rather mutated creatures.

You then type in a message you want to send, and when you email it to a friend, your little virtual friend will read it out. They can also do preset songs and messages, from Happy Monday to What Are You, A Sadist. Very peculiar indeed. Once you've had a disembodied, lumpy fish-headed, erm, head singing the spine-chillingly disturbing Please Don't Die song (it must be heard to be believed), you realise that this site is either the work of genius or of some very disturbed people indeed...
