| New Information on Dreamcast Black & White |
Lionhead leak new details regarding online and VMU mini-games
The fact that Black & White is coming is undoubtedly marvellous, but now we've heard that it's coming with multiplayer. Apparently, Lionhead have thought beyond the usual multiplayer elements and have tried to integrate the player much deeper in the multiplayer experience. For instance, before you even consider entering a battle, you'll spend a lot of time in preparation. The creatures in the game are portable, in that you're able to transfer them from single-player to the Internet and vice versa. It's clever to train your creature in single-player mode before taking him into an online game so that it's had good preparation.
The Dreamcast version will have several creatures you won't find in the PC and X-Box versions. We've also learned that the game will also have special VMU mini-games dedicated to enhancing the abilities of the creature you're developing, in a Tamagotchi/Pokémon style. Not only that, but we've also learned that Dreamcast owners will be treated to some system-exclusive creatures.
Lionhead are also working on an online portal for the game called The Gathering. Dreamcast users will be able to meet, chat and arrange online games with their own trained creatures against other B&W players in special online battle arenas, much like PC lobbies Mplayer and TEN.
All of this should make for an interesting multiplayer experience. We'll be back with more details as soon as they surface.
