Hands-on first impressions
We just got a review copy of Codemasters' Micro Maniacs in the office, so we popped it into the trusty PlayStation in order to impart our first impressions. As you'd expect, it's pretty similar to the Codies' previous Micro titles, but with cute little fellas running around instead of cars. The characters will have you in stitches the first time you see them tearing about the place, farting fireballs at each other or attacking with an elongated tongue. Each character has two unique special attacks, fuelled by running over the energy points that litter the tracks.
The fact that you're not confined to a vehicle has been exploited fully, as some courses demand death slides down power leads or scrambling up fruit nets (you know, the red nets that surround a collection of oranges). It's all good clean fun, especially with friends (up to eight players). So, first impressions are very positive and you can check out the definitive review in Future Gamer in the next couple of weeks.
