Get connected with a mobile phone
Sony big cheese Ken Kutaragi has revealed the online plans for PlayStation2 in an exclusive interview with Japanese trade mag Nihon Keizai Shimbun. The first step will be to connect a mobile phone to the console, using a yet to be released cable and piece of software. Kutaragi reckons this will be good enough to order goods and even play games online. But what about the modem? It would appear that you don't need one. Huh?
However, this is believed to be a temporary solution, as Kutaragi-san went on to discuss Sony's plans to link PlayStation2 to the high-speed cable TV network which will begin in Japan early next year.
