Fun Boy Three

The Lost Boys of Bullfrog come together

Three ex-Bullfrog employees have set up their own development house in Guildford, going by the name of Lost Toys.

Glenn Corpes, one of the original team that devised the seminal deity sim Populous, is one of the three. Having spent 11 years at Bullfrog he now feels the time is right to move on and "... bring playability and originality back into focus with our game designs".

Glenn's disillusionment with the lack of originality in games today is echoed by fellow breakaways Darren Thomas and Jerermy Longley. "Since leaving Bullfrog, we've already come up with a big box of ideas. None of them fit in with the cynical, derivative designs that many other developers seem to be working on", commented Darren.

"Much of the industry nowadays is about doing exactly the same thing as your competitors but trying to be five per cent better. There is still room for true, ground-breaking creativity, and we're going to prove it", added Corpes.

Which is all very easy on Future Gamer's ears. Though wishing Bullfrog no ill, we're always pleased to hear of new ventures based on a desire to pursue innovative and original game ideas. It's good to know that many developers think beyond a publisher's wallet.
