Another classic set for the makeover treatment
Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that a new Metroid game is currently in development.
While stating that he is not personally involved in the project, Miyamoto confessed to dropping in on the team every now and then to see how the game is coming along.
No other information is available at this time and it is still unclear as to whether the new Metroid will be for the N64 or Nintendo's next console. Here's hoping that it goes along the same lines as Mario and Zelda - imagine Metroid in a beautifully realised 3D world.
Incidentally, a new Game Boy Color version of Metroid II is currently in the works.
