Dear Future Gamer,

Will the Dreamcast be all it's made out to be? It sounds great: 128bit graphics, modem etc, but will this be enough to match PlayStation 2's DVD and Emotion Engine? I own a PlayStation and a PC, but should I opt for a PlayStation 2 or a Dreamcast?

FG: Will gamers buy into Dreamcast? It's unlikely, simply because the Man on the Clapham Omnibus doesn't differentiate between 32bit, 64bit, 128bit etc. The PlayStation has almost become a generic term for 'games console' despite the fact that the N64 is a superior machine.

Nonetheless, we hope that the Dreamcast is a huge success. Its online capabilities suggest that it should have every chance. A Dreamcast or PlayStation 2? Probably the latter, if push comes to shove, but the Dreamcast will be on the shelves a long time before Sony's console appears.
